Centralization Is a Waste

Intro

Hello!
In this article I will try to make you, the reader, think more about the tech you use and how it affects you and how it might be not only exploiting you, but it can also be a security risk to you.

I am going to start a free static website hosting service to try and do something about it, instead of just complaining.

Lack of Control

Centralised services on the internet have full control over what you do on them. Most (if not all) social media platforms for example will have algorithms made to hook you! The main goal is to make you spend as much time as possible consuming what they want. Why would you want to do that?

But off course, these platforms don’t control just what you consume, they will also control and limit what you can post (not just illegal stuff). Its just a matter of time before you get banned on a platform, get big enough posting what Zuckerberg doesn’t want you posting, and you will be banned. Not to mention that these platforms also incentive posting the absolute worst content possible to get the most amount of likes and be pushed by the algorithm.

Even search engines like google.com are crap nowadays and it will censor things based on political bias or just show you ads to make you consume more.

Its a waste

Years of technological advancement made use capable of having ocean cables that connect the world together, and yet, people are using the same platforms that concentrate most data in just a few companies, why?

In my eyes if the whole web would be at least a bit more decentralized, with people connecting to each other’s websites. It would be a lot better for everyone, as it is right now, a few companies basically control information.

The Solution

Start your own website, stop using social media to consume shit.

Sure a website might not get as much recognition, but let’s be serious, do you think you are getting famous on instagram?

Even if you are famous, decentralizing your media will only benefit you, just imagine you get false banned from a social media platform where you have a bunch of followers.
What happens now?
If your presence is centralized on a certain social media platform, your existence (in the eyes of other people) is basically gone, unless you have a presence somewhere else like a website or blog, simply having other social media presences just means you are vulnerable in other places.

Conclusion

Stop consuming stupid content!

Deleting social media will only result in benefits and will probably save you a lot of time that you can use to do things that you actually find fun.

Your experience on the internet can be greatly improved by the use of decentralized platforms like searxng for web browsing, and starting your own website to produce content and maybe promote your things. I made this website so I can share ideas with the internet and try to improve it, even if just a little.
